Ocean Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are an essential part of our center and an important part of our residents’ day. When you decide to volunteer at Ocean Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center, you’ll have the opportunity to develop a new approach to existing activities, projects or services—or create something new. Fresh, new perspectives and different skills help us stay relevant and identify new opportunities to improve our selection of recreational activities.

But volunteering doesn’t just help our residents. It can help you, too. Whether you volunteer your time or donate, giving has shown to improve mental and physical health, stimulate brain function and lower the risk for depression and anxiety.

If you’d like to learn more about our volunteer opportunities, check out our ongoing list of volunteer activities. We’d appreciate your help with any of the activities below, or another idea you may have:

  • Teaching classes (e.g., cooking, sewing, crafting, gardening)
  • Teaching shop classes (e.g., woodworking)
  • Providing entertainment (e.g., music, plays, singing, dancing)
  • Playing board games
  • Leading religious services
  • Calling Bingo
  • Sponsoring a monthly birthday party
  • Hosting a holiday-themed party
  • Adopt-a-Grandparent
  • Providing patio beautification

Donation opportunities

If you are unable to volunteer at this time, we also appreciate donations—no matter how big or small. It’s our mission to make our residents feel right at home. With the help of our generous volunteers, we’ve been able to celebrate their special occasions with a lot of love and a bit of magic. Here are a few ideas our residents truly appreciate:

  • Birthday cake
  • Table decorations
  • Devotional booklets
  • Food for socials and events
  • Auction and/or Bingo prizes
  • Nail care and/or polish
  • Make-up
  • Seasonal decorations
  • CDs, music or MP3 players

If you or your organization is interested in volunteering at or donating to Ocean Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center, please contact our Life Enrichment Officer, Nichole Dillinger, at 228-875-9363.
